Mayan Birds

Mayan Birds is a bird watching project, sponsored by Uxlabil Eco Hotel. The most prolific operational center is located on the shores of Lake Atitlan, specifically on the village of San Juan la Laguna, based on Eco Hotel Uxlabil Atitlán.

We offer you five different routes, with various level of duration and difficulty, along with different opportunities of species to be found.

The shortest and easiest tour consist of about half an hour walk around the 2 ha of the hotel, having the opportunity to watch at least 20 different species; while the longest and hardest involves climbing the San Pedro Volcano, with an estimated duration of 8 hours (leaving the hotel premises at 5:00AM), with the specific goal of spotting the Horned Guan.
